x2 Step 41 – Journal Step 40 - Today I will feel the power of God.

Today: Step 41 - I am not afraid of the power of God. (MP3)

I am not afraid of the power of God. Step 41

THIS AFFIRMATION IS SO IMPORTANT FOR YOUR HAPPINESS, for you must learn again to trust the power of love and the power of God. For this you must relinquish your former ideas, assumptions and evaluations of past painful experiences. It is painful to be separated from that which you love beyond all things, and the only way to maintain this separation is to malign that which you love, to give it an evil intent and then to engender guilt within yourself. To feel and accept the power of God, evil and guilt must leave you. You must venture forth to explore that which is most natural. It is like breaking new ground and coming home all at once.

IN STILLNESS, THEN, PRACTICE TWICE TODAY feeling the power of God. Do not seek for answers from God. You need not speak at all but only be present, for as you learn to be in relationship with that which is the source of all your relationships, the information that you need can come easily to you to guide you, comfort you and correct you when necessary. But first you must feel the power of God, and in this you will find your own strength.

PRACTICE 41: Two 30-minute practice periods.

6:15 p.m.  Thursday, September 28, 2000 – it has been a busy week. I'm still doing most of the work at the PDC… Will see what happens in the future. I need more energy – and a faster connection to the Internet.

One of my suggestions for keeping a journal is to try to write something every day, even if it is only to say – “too busy to write.”

Another highly important Step. In considering it today several points become the focus. First is: "Those who have responded to God become God’s Messengers in time so that they may bestow the gifts of Grace upon those who remain behind in confusion."

We know who the Messenger of the New Message is at this time: Marshall Vian Summers. At one point, Marshall said we must all become messengers for the New Message. Is that a name for those of who respond to the New Message from God? Might at some time we be called “Messengers” as “God’s Messengers in time” in Step 40?

Following in this paragraph is this: “All the seeming powers of your world—the forces of nature, the inevitability of your death, the ever present threat of illness, loss and destruction and all appearances of conflict—are all temporary movements in the great stillness of God.”

In the first time through, at this Step I considered ACIM for its notion of becoming a Teacher of God. That remains on my mind, but the shortcoming for me of ACIM was the notion that we live in an illusion of our own making. In that period of study, I did not see how I alone could be responsible for the illusion that existed before I was born and would continue after my death. Changing my mind didn’t really affect the world, but I could see it all as something that would end. It had evolved in being and earth, for sure, at some time would not be habitable for humans. Human life here was temporary.

That this part of creation, the separation is temporary, is presented matter-of-factly in this Step, which resonates with my thinking. That we are “in the great stillness of God,” is a simple explanation, within which fit the entire universe, some of which is shown in pictures from the Hubble telescope.

Then too, we must go about our daily affairs, do our work, take care of our children and relate to others in our lives. Let’s let that simmer as we continue and seek to be messengers.

Note: If you’ve some interest due to this or other Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in order in the archives - one post per Step.

Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well through the Free School of the New Message.
