IN
TODAY’S REVIEW, REVIEW THE PAST WEEK OF LESSONS and your involvement with them.
Try to understand that though progress may appear to be slow at first, that
which is slow and even will progress greatly. Involvement that is consistently
applied will give you the straight line to your accomplishment.
IN
YOUR REVIEW, WE AGAIN REMIND YOU to refrain from self judgment if you have not
met your expectations. Merely realize what is required to follow the
instructions as they are given and involve yourself with them as fully as
possible. Remember that you are learning to learn, and remember that you are
learning to reclaim your self-worth and your true abilities.
PRACTICE
56: One long practice period.
From the journal Step
55 - I will accept the world as it is.

p.m. I will accept the world as it is: I accept attitudes toward cooperation,
individual differences, learning ability and exposure to teaching, the presence
of good and bad teachers and teachings, the tendency to waste and pollute; the
limits of government and the excesses; the hatred people have to others and the
things it leads them to do; the trends of history and cultures; the limits of communication
– words and actions; the limits of language – and the language I use; the fact
that, like me, others are lazy and irresponsible, that people with limits try
hard and achieve what they can, that talented people waste their talents; that
there is too much and nothing of interest all the same time; that love turns to
hate, but the reverse is rare; that I can only deal with a few of the millions
of beautiful and interesting people I see everywhere, that the earth and the
people are out of sync –; that answers lead to more questions; that there is no
answer for Why, that the world doesn't recognize and honor me, and support my
goals with money; that youth for some is joy, and hell for others; that Gaia has
little direct control to manage its inhabitants; that there are such
disparities in the human family; that my poverty is wealth for others, that the
world has not waited for me…; that the world did not teach me better, that the
details overwhelm; that I need eyes – but they cause judgment; that I'm a poor
student, a beginning student at this time, that I can't understand the world –
though perhaps I can know; that I've freedom many can't imagine, yet I expect
more; but I can't know where it is going; that I can't have all I want and that
I often have what I don't need. These are things I accept this day.
Accepting
the world – full written response this day. It surprised me to see how thorough
I’d been. The punctuation is inconsistent – but that is how it was written.
These Steps are work. Let us continue.

Note: If you’ve some interest due to this or other
Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge
and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can
use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in
order in the archives - one post per Step.
Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps
once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference
how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide
a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One
may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps
students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as
a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well
through the Free School of the New Message.
