Read the past six lessons and consider their
meaning and their value. See what influence they have had upon your life. Try
to delve deeper into the messages that they are giving you and the foundation
that they are helping you to build for yourself.
Then turn your attention to the Four Pillars of
your life. Again review your Four Pillars, listening for Knowledge—-listening
to hear if something needs your attention, listening with deeper ears, without
preference, without fear, even without hope. The problem with hope is that it
is a cover for fear. The only real hope that you have is that Knowledge is with
you and that you cannot lose Knowledge. That is true, but beyond that, hope is
simply an adaptation to the existence of fear.
Therefore, come to your practices with an open mind
and an open heart. You are here to learn—- not to demand, not to defend, not to
protect, not to negotiate, but to receive and to learn so that you may be able to give.

Pillars Review.

48 - In the Greater Community, you will not be free.
8:05
a.m. Friday, October 12, 2001 Leave – lots to do. I'm very sad and disappointed
about the situations of David and Sarah. I have no solutions. I am powerless.
So I'll love them and let them be.
→ Culture and
Carnage – Conflict – life is conflict in one prepare for it. Power which is
focused on maintaining freedom minimizes conflicts losses → war.
8:31
a.m. I'm taking time now to read more in Carnage and
Culture by Victor Davis Hanson. As of page 122 it focused
on the evolution from polis to natio from the Greek to Roman and how Western
citizenship based on culture – rights & responsibilities – the ability to
obtain citizenship was the key – "[see page for quote] that is the key to
the Shenandoah Valley – the need for citizenship.
→ Community is
related to citizenship – a sense of belonging, rights and responsibilities –
which lead to opportunities for growth.
9
a.m. What a day thus far. Today's Step 48 "In the Greater Community, you
will not be free". RHG/spirit brings me to the C & C book by Victor
Davis Hanson which explains how citizenship maintained its own freedom in the
Roman world. The future challenge is greater, for humanity must view earth
citizenship as one – in order that we be united as we enter G.C. relationships.
If
only I can comprehend what is being shown to me from this perspective and
communicate it to others so they might be able to use the ideas as tools, I’ll
have accomplished some of my destiny. Where are others building "regional
community" that is inclusive and intentional.
9:18
a.m. Where am I? A tactician without an army? No – an observer of conflict –
land development and population growth. It is based on protecting wealth, not
creating community. If it is "gated" is it a community? Or a prison?
Prisons are also "gated communities".

Building regional community… [Community building wealth 9/14/02]
→ free people
respond to evil through organization. They are proactive. That is why the
terrorist attack on the U.S. has shocked us into citizenship.
→ the impending
GC contact means the U.S./west must do everything it can to spread democracy.
Theocracies are not sustainable. Instead of allowing and encouraging people to
seek truth through science, they limit the advancement with theological
"answers" based on myth, superstition and misinterpretation of past
visions.
8:23
p.m. Kmart parking lot. It is been a strange day. Cindy is at home cleaning. I
should never be in the house when she is cleaning.
8:32
p.m. On the back porch. It may have been quieter at Kmart. Noise of the street,
traffic… Where can I contemplate? "In the Greater Community you will not
be free". I'm not free here – entangled relationships in a strange
land of other relationships. It is interesting, but people suffer so. I Know
from experience. I suffer. Less…but still confused.
Though
I was free to work today on RI things, I couldn't, or rather didn't. Emotional
energy problems? Wandering?
The
day started with heavy ideas and insights. It is as though those things suck up
my energy and leave me wasted. That may be the case.
Being
at work in the governmental arena, my job has been to promote cooperation
between local governments. It has been long, slow and deliberate work, and
produced results. Still the challenges remain enormous and even growing. Greater
Community Spirituality should contribute to solutions; at least that's what I’m
trying to do. In your work, the application may look different. We continue.

Note: If you’ve some interest, but this is the
first time you’ve seen Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge
and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. Begin at
the beginning.
If you do know about Steps, but have not done Steps
twice completely, read the related materials, and have a sense of the direction
of this study, you won’t get the experience. The Introduction begins:
“This is the Steps
to Knowledge Continuation Training. It is designed to build upon the Steps
that were learned in Steps to Knowledge to
enable you to experience the grace, the power and the direction of Knowledge in
your life and to become an expression of Knowledge in everything that you do.
If you have completed the book, Steps to
Knowledge, twice through and have followed the instructions as they were
given without altering the curriculum in any way, then you are now ready to
begin this more advanced study”.
If you are an independent student, that is certainly
an option. Posts here provide a trail that may let you have a virtual companion
when and if you want one. One may have to study alone, as I did in the
beginning. There are other Steps students blogging their experience and you
might find a person more like you as a companion, or use a number of such Steps
journeys. There are options as well through the Free School of the New Message.
