Today: Step 311 - The world is
calling me. I must prepare to serve it. (MP3)
Step 311 - The world is calling me. I must prepare to serve it. |
YOU HAVE COME TO SERVE THE WORLD, yet you must
prepare to serve it. You cannot prepare yourself, for you do not know what you
are preparing for, and you do not know the methods of preparation, for these
must be given to you. But you do know that you must prepare, and you do know
that you must follow the steps of preparation, for this is in your Knowledge
already.
YOU HAVE COME TO SERVE THE WORLD. If this is denied
or neglected, you will fall into disarray within yourself. If your purpose is not
being served and furthered, you will feel alienated from yourself, and you will
fall into the darkness of your own imagination. You will condemn yourself and
believe that God condemns you as well. God does not condemn you. God calls you
to recognize your purpose and fulfill it.
LET NOT AMBITION TAKE YOU INTO THE WORLD
PREMATURELY. Remember you are a student of Knowledge. You follow Knowledge in the
world because you are preparing to be a vehicle for its contribution and a
recipient of its gifts. This will require restraint on your part. This will
require adherence to a greater preparation. A student need only follow the
guidance of the instruction. A student need only trust in the power of the
instructor. Your Knowledge will confirm this and will dispel your uncertainty
here, for your Knowledge is returning to its Home and to its Source. It is returning
to that to which it must return. It is responding to that which it must fulfill
in the world.
DO NOT HATE THE WORLD OR RESIST IT, for it is the
place where you will fulfill your destiny. Thus, it deserves your gratitude and
appreciation. Yet, also remember to respect the power of its confusion and its
inducements. Here you must be strong with Knowledge, and though you appreciate
the world for strengthening your resolution for Knowledge, you also take note
of the world’s confusion and enter into the world carefully, with discernment
and adherence to Knowledge. All of these are important, and we will remind you
of them as we proceed, for they are essential for you to learn Wisdom as a
student. It is both your desire for Knowledge and your capacity for Knowledge that
we must cultivate and that you must learn to receive.
PRACTICE 311: Read the lesson three times today.
From the journal: Step
310 - I am free because I desire to give.

Step
310 – "I am free because I desire to give". Practice #1 – To
understand how ambivalence is still robbing me of inspiration, motivation,
courage and relationship. The VA GIS Strategy – it has taken a month to get the
idea package to send to Mark Warner – still it isn’t done. Some time is
learning, yet some is ambivalence.
10:20
p.m. At 1:50 p.m. I finally mailed my letter to Mark Warner. I hope it gets
read – I hope Alan Voorhees gets it. 6/6/01 – Voorhees yes – Warner? – Don't
Know –
I'm
sending a letter to Denver's RTD – which is also an ad for me. The national
hazards clearinghouse Boulder – That would be a place to work. UFOs getting
more visible.
David
called. Sarah's hooked up with another guy. She reported David to CPS for hitting
Lane. Sarah bailed out this guy… smoking crack? She's living in an underworld?
Fortunately
there was one bottle of Merlot left. – Practice #2 I do desire to give. It has
always confused me that my giving was misunderstood or not recognized. I want
to give back which supports order – not rigid, but evolving. Planning gave a
"rigid" and zoning separated order. It does not support community. It
is not organic.
The
Step implies that all you need is the desire to give in order to be free. It
says that. The prior thinking is: "Ye shall know the truth and the truth
shall set you free".
Are
there different freedoms? Perhaps. This is to be a second half hour of thinking
about.
Key
is giving of the "true gifts". Do I, can I, Know what they are?
That
I am part of a great learning community is great –
Amen & Amen

Note: If you’ve some interest due to this or other
Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge
and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can
use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in
order in the archives - one post per Step.
Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps
once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference
how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide
a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One
may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps
students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as
a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well
through the Free School of the New Message.
