Today: Step 86 - I honor those who have given to me. (MP3)
I honor those who have given to me. Step 86
|
TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN TO YOU will generate
gratitude, which is the beginning of true love and appreciation. Today in your
two deep practice periods, you are asked to think of those people who have
given to you, to think of them and nothing else during your period of practice.
You are asked to consider very deeply what they have done for you. With those
with whom you are angry and upset, try to see how they, too, have given service
to you in the reclamation of Knowledge. Do not bear false witness against your
feelings, but in spite of your feelings towards them, if there are ill
feelings, attempt also to recognize their service to you. For you can indeed be
angered or upset by someone that you recognize has served you, and this is
often the case. Perhaps you will even be angry at this curriculum which seeks
only to serve you. Why would you be angry at this curriculum? Because Knowledge
flushes out everything that stands in its way. That is why at times you are
angry and do not even know why.
ALLOW YOUR TWO PRACTICE PERIODS TO BE QUITE
FOCUSED. Concentrate. Use the power of your mind. Think of those individuals
who have served you. If individuals come to mind whom you had not considered
having served you, think how they have served you as well. Let this day be a
day of recognition. Let this be a day of restitution.
PRACTICE 86: Two 30-minute practice periods.
This can be a difficult Step. It is a practice that
will be done many times to achieve the intent. You will also gain some insight
on anger. Not all at once. This is a start.

85 - I find happiness in small things today.
"I find happiness in small things today." Step 85 |
7:30 a.m. Sunday, November 12,
2000 – Where am I? Planet earth, so called by its inhabitants. I do not have a
lot of conscious memory of other planets, but I do feel to have that other
life, in addition to lives here. Moving through the great mystery here on the
planet, I'm learning in this body Steps to Knowledge. Today, Step 85 – I find
happiness in small things today.
9:16 a.m. As turf minded,
territorial beings, mankind is always drawing boundaries. Mine/ours – and theirs.
Boundaries segment – control. The inside and outside world. It is at those
edges that conflict often occurs, the need to limit within or without, isolate
gated communities or dangerous felons. To look at the Atlas – to map these
relationships – is an exercise in self-understanding. To see, know, respect and
use boundaries for individual and collective self-management – and economic
growth and change is a challenge to humanity. Regional Intelligence will assist
us and give a perspective so that the forces of domination do not overtake
humanity. We live and let live in a framework of mutual respect to guard
humanity's freedom in the universe. Under attack as we are, we can either seek
advantage by joining the powerful collectives, or self-empowering to be Earth’s
humanity in the universe.
…
9:44 a.m.> Where are the
ultimate boundaries? They are internal to Spirit. Reading LTWOK I can feel my whole life. I read:
"In the case of your life, the driver is the Spirit. The control panel is
the mind. And the physical vehicle is the body. The mind here serves as an
intermediary between physical life and spiritual reality, and the mind lives in
its own environment, called the mental environment, the environment in which
the mind affects other minds. It is the environment of thought. It is a
distinct environment from the physical reality, though they are interrelated
and affect one another."
10:09 p.m. The day started fine –
with energy, but slowly faded to missed opportunities, TV and overeating. I'd
intended to straighten my office, so Monday could be a full day of work, but it
didn't happen. The day was all small things, but little happiness. I missed the
lesson? I'm distracted when Cindy is around? I'm still angry and don't know
why? I've not yet achieved full focus on my mission? It has to get simpler?
What?
I always want to have done more.
TV is a huge distraction and music can be also.
10:25 p.m. Email and the computer
are distraction. What am I doing? Exercise # 2 –
There
are the goals of the day and the distractions. Sometimes we learn in the
distractions, but then goals are unachieved. For me, this remains a problem to now,
though this day has been productive. The post title has been simplified to x2
for “2nd Time” and I’ve worked on finding pictures to go along with
the Steps. Let us continue.

Note: If you’ve some interest due to this or other
Steps, you should go to the beginning blog post. From here you will learn about Steps to Knowledge
and can begin it on the day that makes sense; then progress as needed. You can
use the posts on this blog as a companion if it helps. They will remain in
order in the archives - one post per Step.
Often it takes 18 months to get through the Steps
once. For this blog, the pace is one-a-day, but it really makes no difference
how fast you do it, only that you begin, persist and repeat. Posts here provide
a trail that may let you have a virtual companion when and if you want one. One
may have to study alone, as I did in the beginning. There are other Steps
students blogging their experience and you might find a person more like you as
a companion, or use a number of such Steps journeys. There are options as well
through the Free School of the New Message.
